About Jamar
Tru Dance Academy was birth through the journey of TGMT, an up and coming performance and recording artist in the Houston Area. With experience training at Broadway Dance Centre (New York City) as a work study student, TGMT has been feautured performing in Grammy Award Winning Artist-Solange Knowledges' When I Get Home and in Cosmopolitan.com for his dance tutorials, wracking up more than a total of 100k views on his Youtube Channel for tutorials alone (over 2 million views total).
By trade TGMT is a vertified dance teacher for Houston Independent School disctrict. So he has met the texas requirements for dance pedagogy. TGMT has been teaching in public schools (ages 6y/o - adult) for nearly 6 years and teaching at studios for over 10. Because TGMT is not only a performance artist but a trained teacher, he knows how to find a dancers strengths and growth areas and adjust instruction to meet their needs and pace. He's fun, patient, supportive and detail oriented. This is instruction you wont regret!

I enjoy assisting in a student exploring their body, emotions and creativity. Dance and performance has become a form of therapy for me and I love passing that experience to a student.
From a young age, I have always made my own choreography and have been fascinated with the art of teaching dance to others. When in college my dance instuctor saw my potential and gave my the opportunity to teach at her studio. My love grew from there.
My background as a dancer and teacher goes back to when I was a teenager. Training in the arts after school and at local dane studios. I then went to college and minored in dance. Shortly after, I moved to New York to continue my dane training at Broadway Dance Centre and since have been using my knowledge to teach dance to students of all ages.

My process begins with getting to know the student as a person with a series of questions. Afterwards I like to understand their interest or background with dance and performance. Then I want to know what they like to achieve with my instruction. Whether it is preparation for a performance or to feel more comfortable at the club or a party with friends. From there, I backwords plan, starting with the end in mind.
From students with very little experience with dance, to advanced level dancers. Students of all socio econimic and cultural backgrounds.
Make sure that the person has the background and expertise that compliments the specific wants you came here to pay for.
I have been really fond of these majorette dance competitions that have become increasingly more popular in the recent years. I liked it so much that I held my own dance competition last year that I and my dance company performed in with a full band.

He teach good
I loved everything about working with tru dance academy.
I want to join one so I can learn how to dance better or learn how to dance new moves .
I had so much fun. Tru dance academy gave all of the learners/participants ( not me in particular cause I can dance ) but for the people who can’t dance they gained rhythm and balance from working with the academy and we got an insight of life and we talked about our experience and got to express ourselves not just through dance but through talking and meditation.
I get to be myself and learn new things
When I first came in I didn’t like dancing for numerous of reasons. He inspired me to embrace it as a formal talent that I have
I liked but I think that u should pit songs with more rhythm.

I think every choreography we had was great although I would have liked to continue practicing them and being able to create something harder might be fine.
I love it here! He helps me build my confidence & makes me feel comfortable when dancing. He makes everything easy because he actually breaks down the steps & make sure we got it before moving on. He has changed my whole perspective on dancing & I’m honestly thankful for him being my dance teacher!
what I liked most about mr. Williamson as a dance teacher. is that he makes you feel very sure of yourself makes you more comfortable with yourself in front of the public.
I like that we dance and learn new steps, but also, we find a place to talk about a lot of things. Between those things are like our dreams, what is happening in the world, about our feelings. My dance class means to me a lot because I have a place to express my self. I like dance class.
Mr.Williamson is by far the best dance teacher I have ever had . Not only has he taught me to let off steam through dance , but he has shown me how to channel my emotions to do greater things in my life . I am truly changed by this class and I will never be the same .
That we all got along && it was always a good way to start my mornings && my week.
