About Leah
Hi! My name is Leah Black I have been dancing for 15 years and have been teaching since i was 9 years old, crazy i know! i’ll give a quick run down of my dance back ground... I’m a South Carolina national title holder, Texas National Title Holder, I was the last finalist in the audition to me on the reality T.V show "Dance Moms", I trained at the Dance Moms Studio Loceted in L.A, I was Accepted into University of Houston with a full scholarship for dance, I recently just got off tour with 2 different companies, I have performed on Carnival Cruise Line cruise ship,and I recently got booked to work in a Tyler Perry movie March 2022. I would love to work with you or your child!!! I’m located in Santa Fe and if distance is a problem i’m always open to teaching Via zoom, it’s equally as effective even if your child has no dance back ground! As far as my prices go i only charge $30 an hour where as most teachers do $60 and if you’re looking into doing multiple classes a week with me i will work out pricing if cost is an issue! I teach Ballet, Tap, Jazz, HipHop, Contemporary, Modern Musical theater and just about any other common style you can think of. I love getting to watch people learn and grow and realize there potential. I love having motivated students that work hard because there's just no stopping them in the dance world
My mom was a principal ballerina for a ballet company when she was my age and so when i was born dance was just a common topic in my family, to keep up with her dancing she joined an African styled dance company, I would always tag along to her rehearsals because i loved getting to see the live drummers and all of that and i had also been dancing already by this point, they wanted me to teach them how to do more technical styles just for fun and i ended up teaching an award winning contemporary peace to a group of Aferican styled Dancers at only 9 years old!
I've been on tour with multiple companies, performed in mexico, performed on a cruise ship, Hold several state titles, 15 years of dance training and many more to come, I have taught at multiple dance studios and have assisted some of the biggest names in the dance community

My first time meeting with a student i usually do a super laid back evaluation, nothing intimidating at all just some simple tasks to give me a good idea of there ability, flexibility and level
i've taught ages as young as 3 to as old as 50
ive taught recreational dancers to advanced dancers
Look at the background, dance isn't about what you know it's about who you know. Connections are so important especially if you want to ever have a dance career of your own Look for a teacher who can get you somewhere. If your teacher can't get themselves any dance job besides teaching how are they going to be able to train you to make it to that level?
