About Mariana
I teach drawing, watercolor and acrylic painting, and collage. I also teach making floorcloths and making collage. You can see what floorcloths are if you go to Pinterest and put in "Floorcloths". They're really beautiful and are mats that take the place of small rugs. They're great for people who have allergies.
Students may look at my website marianakramer.com to see what I do. I have taught various subjects for many many years and am an excellent teacher. I LOVE to teach.

Making art and teaching it make me very happy. I lose time when I am painting or making collage or floorcloths and don't think about what's going on in the world! Art makes me totally happy and I like to give that to my students.
I have been teaching for many years, starting out in the 60's teaching music! I have a Bachelor of Music from UNC Greensboro and taught flute and piano for 30 years.
I have always studied art. My mother was an artist and teacher and I attended the High Museum School of Art in the 60's and studied with Red Hamilton, a protege of Hans Hoffman. I continue to study - watercolor with Karen Ku at Little Tree Studios in Avondale Estates and oil portrait with Nancy Honea at Spruill Arts Center in Dunwoody. I believe in study for myself always as a way to constantly improve.
I have done many shows and art sales, here in Atlanta and in Cuernavaca, Mexico. I won a Maker of Merit Award in the Decatur, GA Maker Faire of 2015. I belong to the Womens Caucus for the Arts of Georgia and participate in their exhibits. I belong to the Avondale Estates Artist Guild (see Facebook).
I have always loved to teach! I enjoy seeing people improve in their art and enjoy learning a new wonderful skill.

I was a music major in college (UNC-Greensboro, NC) and began teaching as a graduate assistant there. I taught music for 25 years.
I began teaching art in 2004. I have taught all my adult life.
I began painting with my mother, an artist, at the age of 3. I attended the old High Museum Art School, taking drawing and painting. One of my teachers was Red Hamilton, a protege of Hans Hoffmann. I studied music and art at the Brevard Music Center. I received a Bachelor of Music and studied Art History at UNC-Greensboro.
I studied drawing and watercolor painting with Karen Ku at Little Tree Studios, Avondale Estates, GA. I've had classes with Pat Weaver in St. Simons, GA and with Kathy Rennell in Atlanta. I studied oil portrait painting at the Spruill Art Center in Dunwoody with Nancy Honea.
I've had classes in painting and making floorcloths from Lisa Curry Mair in Appomattox, VA.
I've had many classes in crafts and for several years made and sold quilts.

We talk about how much the student knows about the subject. If they are a beginner we talk about brushes, paints and other materials and how to use them. I ask the student what their goal is and we talk about how we can meet that together. I try to make the student feel as comfortable as possible about learning the craft of painting.
My first student, years ago, was an autistic child. I have worked with elementary, junior high, high school students and adults.
I love to teach junior high, high school and adult students.
Find someone who has very good knowledge of their subject. Someone who has fresh ideas and is constantly learning themselves. Find someone who really loves to teach and makes you comfortable and is non-judgemental.
My watercolor dog portraits are going to be in a show at Galeria Regina in Oakhurst, Decatur, GA. It will be my third show there. I had watercolor and acrylic paintings in my first one there 3 years ago and collages in my second show there.
I will have a show again at Galeria Regina the months of November & December, 2019. I will be showing my watercolor dog portraits.
I will have items in the Art Visions Show at Paideia School December 8-10.
I also participate in a Holiday Show where we sell nice gifts in December. Contact me if you're interested in attending.

Will they be willing to give this new skill a good amount of time and not give up right away if it is a little difficult. They need to know this is a specialized skill and it will take work on their part.

Details
$30.00 / Hour. Students will be expected buy their own drawing and painting materials. The art stores I use are Binders in Buckhead and Blick at 7th Street and Peachtree. I will want the students to buy their materials at those two places. Students are expected to bring check or cash to the lesson. Thank you!
