About Alina
I love working with students to fulfill their personal artistic goals and develop their voice as an artist. Whether they're a practiced artist or completely new to art, I work to inspire my students and help them find their own path while learning concrete, technical approaches to art. I've worked primarily with Undergraduate students and have had some experience in Pre-College. I'd love to work with more pre-college students in preparing portfolios, and hope to work with more adult education clients in the future!
I've been teaching illustration at the undergraduate level at Lesley University Art + Design since 2019, and could not be more grateful for the opportunity. I never expected to be a teacher, but it's become an unlikely passion. It is so impactful for me to help artists grow into their potential and learn to create and sustain a professional art practice.
I spent time in college working as a TA for a number of illustration classes and professors at Lesley. After graduation, I was recommended by those professors to a position as an adjunct in Lesley's illustration program, where I have been teaching every semester since. I have plans to pursue an MFA to continue my journey as an art educator in higher education.
I received a BFA in Illustration from Lesley Univeristy Art + Design in 2017, and began teaching illustration classes at Lesley in the spring of 2018. I've also assisted in courses taught in adult education programs and an all-ages weekend workshop at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. Outside of teaching, I am a freelance illustrator and designer, and have been in training as a tattoo apprentice since 2019.

I like to start by learning more about the student and their goals. How much art experience do they have? What are they hoping to gain from my instruction? What kind of work inspires them? What would they like their work to look like? Once I have an idea of what they want to learn, I'll pull together lessons and a course of instruction to help them meet those goals, and gather supplementary materials that will help further the students instruction.
I have worked primarily with Undergraduate students, and have some experience with pre-college, adult education, and all-ages groups. I would love to work with more pre-college students on preparing portfolios for art school, and with more adult education students! I'm happy to work with students at all levels of experience who are looking to expand their abilities and practice as an artist.
