About Kassie
I am a former fashion designer and illustrator, originally from California and now living in Kalamazoo. I am a PT adjunct professor at WMU. My philosophy is that anyone who has an eye for art and determination, CAN DRAW and develop great skills. I first taught fashion illustration just after graduating from Otis College of Art and Design with a BFA in Fashion Design. Since then I have taught all levels and abiliities from K-12 to college level, basic drawing, animation drawing, and fashion illustration. I have also taught history of fashion. I love helping students gain the skills that match their vision, and bring it to life!

As a student (in a classroom) of hers, I really benefited from the comprehensive supplementary materials, such as power points and the books were always relevant and helpful to the course. She has an eye for details and is thorough in her overview of the material. Sometimes I did feel that things were missing in terms of explanations and such but she's always more than happy to answer questions to clarify.
Kassie is very knowledgable on the history of fashion. She is a very detail-oriented person and is awesome at answering questions in great detail.
Professor Maurer has a passion for fashion and strives to push students to become their best selves. Professor Maurer is an expert in the field and you will leave the classroom one as well.
