About Beth
While I focus on English tutoring, I have a wide range of experience in subject matter and ages of students. Over my professional career I have worked with students from as young as two years old to undergraduates, and taught in English, Psychology, and Art. I have several years of early childhood care experience, as well as tutoring in English while in high school. I have also worked as a teaching assistant for Psychology 210 at the University of Washington, where I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology. In addition, I have taught ceramics, encaustic (wax) painting, and sketching at Pace Atelier Art Studio for K-8 students.
Reading is a favorite activity of mine and I’ve found that writing about the literature helps me to understand it better and be able to think about the text in new ways. I’d love to be able to help you enjoy the reading process and come up with concise, well-thought out responses to what you read.
I loved my English courses in high school and college, where I earned 5s in AP Literature and Composition and AP Language and Composition. I also created my own independent study course in Post-Modernist Literature, in which I focused on short stories and novels by authors like William Faulkner, Kurt Vonnegut, and Søren Kierkegaard.
