About Marina
Having been raised and educated in the United Kingdom, where I lived until I was eighteen years old, I have a different approach to education than that of my American peers. Within a traditional British education, there is a great emphasis on essay writing, reading of the classics, and the foundation of the English language through the study of Latin. I attribute this foundation to setting me apart from my American peers when I moved to the California four years ago, and was accepted into UC Berkeley and UCLA, receiving a full scholarship to attend UCLA.
I would love to share the essay writing skills and techniques that I have learned in England with my students. I would be delighted to not only guide the essay writing process, but to proof read the essays written by my students and offer improvements and suggestions.
I recieved a classic British education at one of the top secondary schools in the country, Prior Park College. I graudated as a staight- A student and received top- honors in English Literature, English Language, and Latin. After moving to America I was accepted to UC Berkeley and UCLA. I decided to attend UCLA as a history major, where I recieved a full scholarship, and have maintained a 3.9 GPA.
I have tutored freshman UCLA students in Latin and students of all levels in essay writing. I have also made study guides for fellow students in a variety of different classes.
