About Viv
Hello there! My name is Viv Liu, and I am a recent graduate of Stanford University with a B.A. (with Honors and Distinction) in Art History and Comparative Studies in Race and Ethnicity.
I specialize in writing and can assist students with essays, research papers, and college applications. I wrote many research papers in college, including an award-winning senior thesis, and have also been fortunate enough to publish my writing as well. I have contributed essays to publications by the Museum of Modern Art and the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco, and I write curatorial texts (proposals, didactics, labels, etc. related to museum acquisitions and exhibitions) as my full-time job.
I am also able to help students prepare for SAT Reading and Writing tests, as well as the AP Art History exam.
Although I consider myself a great reader and writer today, I used to struggle with the humanities when I was younger. My reading assignments made me feel lost, and my writing assignments left me unable to form a single sentence. With the help of my high school teachers, I later devised new habits, strategies, and outlooks for these subjects and came to love them. I excelled in humanities classes all throughout college and even worked with professors to produce original scholarship, and this led me to my current job in the arts sector, working in a position that requires strong research and writing skills.
Because of this personal journey, I am most passionate about helping students who are struggling to connect with reading, writing, and the humanities. I will teach students to read closely, think critically, express arguments, organize ideas, and, most importantly, gain confidence in themselves.
