About Maia
Hi! My name is Maia and I am a positive and compassionate big sister. I have twin brothers with autism and a little sister. Caring for my siblings has allowed me to cultivate many life skills like responsibility, patience, diligence, and kindness. I aim to bring these skills into my profession since I am currently in college studying to become a teacher for grades 1-6. I have further developed these skills throughout my educational career by achieving high academic success and applying my experience. I have tutored before in ELA, Essay Writing, and History. I also have been working with children for many years through volunteer opportunities and within my own family. I hope to continue to learn and develop my skills which stem from my passion for helping others.
I love working with students because I believe deeply in the power of optimism. I love when a student finally understands something that has been challenging for them. They feel proud of their accomplishments and that should be celebrated. Also, I think the best way to teach is to build off prior knowledge and cultivate skills.
