About Miguel
I am committed to helping students develop healthy and effective practice routines. Learning to play the flute and skilfully interpret the repertoire can be a very fun and rewarding experience. My students will learn how to develop their tone, technique, intonation, and interpretations with a variety of approaches that will leave them feeling empowered as artists.

Miguel Hijar is an active performer of both classical and contemporary music. At the University of South Florida, Miguel served as principal flutist of the wind ensemble and performed with the symphony orchestra. As an enthusiastic advocate for new music, Miguel has performed various contemporary works in collaboration with the USF New Music Consortium and New Music Conflagration, a local non-profit organization. In 2011 he was the winner of the FCSAA Winter Music Symposium’s Young Artist Competition and was awarded a scholarship to continue his undergraduate studies. Shortly after graduating, Miguel began performing with the South Shore Symphony Orchestra in Sun City Center, FL, where he held the position of principal flutist. Miguel has also performed internationally at the Vianden Festival 2016 in Luxembourg. In previous years Miguel has studied with Barbara Prescott, Dr. Kim McCormick and Clay Ellerbroek. Currently, Miguel is the recipient of a Woodwind Fellowship at the University of South Carolina where he studies with Dr. Jennifer Parker-Harley and is working on his Master of Music Degree.

Details
$35/hour - Standard Lesson
Middle and High School students will have weekly lessons.*
Adult students may choose to have lessons weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly.
$20/half-hour**
Half-hour lessons are typically for younger students. Weekly lessons are strongly encouraged.
*Please contact me if scheduling/frequency is a problem. A custom fee/schedule may be arranged under extenuating circumstances.
**Only available for students under the age of 13.
