About Ian
I first started teaching in after-school programs at various schools in south central Los Angeles, teaching classes of 10+ students of different experience levels. I currently teach 1 on 1 guitar lessons at my home studio in the neighborhood of Hyde Park.
I am currently a senior at The University of Texas at Austin, receiving my Bachelor of Music in Music Studies with an emphasis in Classical Guitar pedagogy under the tutelage of Adam Holzman. Prior to y studies at UT, I studied with John Deerman of the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet and Dr. Thomas Echols at Austin Community College. In addition to my own studies, I have experience teaching students ranging in ages from 7 - 18 as well as performing weddings and private events.

I first identify the student's strengths and weaknesses as a guitarist. From there I slowly build upon the student's foundation by working on technique, fretboard fluency, repertoire, and theory. It is my belief that a good musician is a well-rounded musician, and it is my hope that every student leaves feeling as though the guitar is something fun and attainable!
I've worked with students ranging in age from 7-18, from complete beginners to more advanced players looking to pursue music in college.

Details
My rate is $30 for hour lessons, and $15 30 minute lessons. The first 30-minute lesson is free provided it is taken at my home studio (Hyde Park).
