About Zach
I'm an old school music teacher that teaches tried and true methods for mastering a bass, guitar and ukulele. I focus on producing well rounded musicians who have an education in the theory, and history of jazz and blues based music. This is always adjusted for age and interest level in order to match the goals of the individual student, but the principles are universal to every style heard today.
I love music. I've been playing for 29 years now. I've traveled all over the world because of music and I still enjoy performing. I love to share my knowledge to aspiring musicians and inspiring love and passion of music to everyone I meet.
I have a bachelor's degree in jazz studies specializing in electric bass guitar.
I have worked in bands of all sizes and genres from jazz to country, experimental rock to reggae. I currently play bass for a classic soul and blues band called the Sweetwater Holy Rollers.
I've worked in professional orchestras onboard five star cruise lines playing variety shows, guest entertainers and live jazz and popular music.
I've given lessons in the Dallas area since 2010.

The first thing I do is get to know you a little bit, what your playing experience is, what your goals are, what kind of music do you like. I play a bit for you, talk to you about the fundamentals of music and see where your understanding is. Once we've reached that point I start to teach you applied theory and songs. These two subjects tend to work hand in hand as new problems in technique arise as the student wishes to learn new songs.
