About Robin
After a 32-year teaching career, I retired in 2022. The subjects I taught included: elementary education (1-6) with reading and social studies emphasis, as well as 8th grade American History (27 years), and am certified in Social Studies subjects for high school (9th - 12th grades.) I began online tutoring in 2020 in ELA, Reading, APUSH, APGOV, AP World, and middle school social studies. I started my college education at Baylor University in Waco, Texas, in 1985. When I realized teaching was the career that I was best suited for, I transferred to Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. The Texarkana Independent School District ( where I worked for 19 years) allowed me to get my Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction. I am also a Google Certified Educator, a National Institute of Stem Educator (NISE) Certified Teacher, and a former team and department lead teacher in the district. Three times I was selected to be the Teacher of the Year for the Texas Middle School Campus out of over 100 teachers, twice selected as the Secondary Teacher of the Year for the district, and once as the Regional Secondary Teacher of the Year. This last honor covers the Northeast Texas area of over 40 school districts. As the Regional TOY I was named as one of the top 20 secondary teachers in the State of Texas (2022.) I have been able to take my classroom skills and apply them to the online platform and individualize each lesson for each student and their success. My AP students have done very well in the last three years and most ask to continue working with me for other AP Social Studies classes.
