About Gillian
I've had a passion for history all my life. When I was a little girl, my father always took my brother and I to historical locations (Colonial Williamsburg, Salem and Boston, St. Augustine, etc), which ignited my desire to learn more about history. In college, some excellent professors used their own passion for history to show me that this was a viable career path. I've been teaching social studies for 15 years now. I have 10 years high school experience, including AP World and APUSH, as well as 5 years middle school experience. While my area of expertise is American History, having taught Global and AP World has made me an expert there as well!

When working with a new student, I like to ask them how they think they learn best. What needs do they have that are being met in their current classroom setting, and what needs are not being met? Then I can come up with a plan to better individualize instruction and help the student thrive!
