About Katy
I teach natural horsemanship. I am a certified instructor. Being a certified instructor means that I've been trained in safety protocols in addition to Horsemanship skills.
I enjoy seeing when a rider connects with the horse. It brings me great joy to see a human and horse form a partnership based on mutual trust.
I was inspired to become a Horsemanship instructor after I spent 4 weeks at the Parelli center in Ocala, FL. I realized that not only were horses wonderful but horses could help people in so many ways. I wanted to share the special moments that can happen between a horse and human.
Parelli Natural Horsemanship’s mission is to make the world a better place for horses and humans. I’ve adopted this as my mission too.
I have completed the Parelli Natural Horsemanship homestudy course to level 3. I spent 4 weeks studying with Parelli Professionals in Ocala, FL. I was a Parelli Professional for 6 months.
I am a former certified instructor with American Riding Instructors Assoc. (ARIA)
I am currently certified with Certified Horsemanship Assoc. (CHA) in standard English/Western level 1. I am also certified with CHA as an Instructor of Riders With Disabilities.

I prefer to work with a new student in private lessons for starters. I start with the basics: haltering, leading, grooming and tacking. Once a student is confident riding the horse independently, then they would be eligible to be in group lessons.
I teach all the basics of English and Western up to cantering.
I have worked with students aged 7-80. I have experience with beginners up to intermediate. I enjoy teaching those who have fears of the horse or of riding. I have taught people with a range of disabilities: Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down Syndrome, ADD, ADHD, Cerebral Palsy, PTSD and victims of human trafficking.

Perfect! The farm was beautiful and Mrs. Katy was great! Mrs. Katy was clear and informative throughout my daughter's lessons. My 7yr old really learned a lot and was very comfortable with Mrs. Katy and the various horses she rode during her 10 lessons. I absolutely recommend Mrs. Katy for anyone interested in having their child/themselves take horseback riding lessons!
Perfect! We have been very pleased with Katy's approach and knowledge.
Perfect! Very pleased to have Katy as a coach. We have done lessons previously at other facilities but Katy has been the best. She is thorough in her teaching and wants to establish safe habits from the start. Our child was completely thrilled with their lesson.

Katy started teaching my daughter when she was 8 years old. She taught her from the ground up... literally! She not only taught her ow to ride, but how to groom a horse, saddle a horse, and how to connect with a horse! We have now been horse owners for 5 years, and that has been built on the foundation that Katy instilled in both my daughter and me!
She is very patient, knowledgeable and an excellent horsewoman.
