About Carlos

Washington Shito Ryu Academy teaches Hayashi-Ha Shitoryu-Kai which is a prominent style of Shito-ryu karate. The ancient art of Karate offers a unique opportunity to develop self-awareness, to master new skills, and to develop both physical and emotional control. The skills and attitudes you acquire will help you in all aspects of life. Although students compete against each other Karate training is more of a competition with oneself and students proceed at their own pace. The environment is ideal for those who love physical activity but shy away from the pressures often associated with team sports.

At Washington Shito Ryu Academy, we welcome all ages and abilities.

I love making a difference in my Karate Student's lives, whether they are kids, teenagers, and adults. I love to help them face their fears, and overcome personal challenges to help instill confidence and courage in their lives. I also love helping my Karate Students achieve any goal they set out to do.

I got started in teaching by being involved with my College Activities Board at Seattle Central Community College (Now known as Seattle Central College). I also got involved with the Eastside Enrochment Program, teaching at various Elementary Schools.

I have been teaching Karate since 2002, and I hold a 3rd degree black belt (Sandan) in Shito-Ryu Karate and a 1st degree black belt (Shodan) in Goju-Ryu Karate. I constantly update and research teaching methods to improve what I know in order to pass on my teachings efficiently and effectively.
