About Mary

Bio

Hello! Let me introduce myself! My name is Mary and I have 7 years of tutoring experience with elementary school children in reading, writing, and math. The students I worked with ranged in ages from 4 to 11 years old. Many were able to improve their skills and obtain high grades in their subject areas. For reading and writing, I've used the SpellRead system at the Score Tutoring Center and other systems while tutoring one-on-one in students' homes. My students really enjoyed working with me!

I have a multiple subject teaching credential from San Jose State (including student teaching in a 3rd grade and later a 1st grade classroom), and an undergraduate degree from Santa Clara University.

I enjoy working with children and helping them to acquire new knowledge and a growing confidence in themselves. I love to make the lessons fun and productive, and to inspire my students to create cohesive paragraphs/essays that will inform and entertain their readers. Also, I am a published author of a middle grade science fiction/fantasy novel!

I look forward to working with you!
