About Arturo
I did some boxing first, then started training Tae Kwon Do when I was 14.. Back in 1976.. I played other sports a little, but martial arts was in my soul.. Also, I wasn't good enough to make it on football! I became a working student and family man early, juggling in as much Tang Su practice (Korean power style with weapons training and some grappling)as possible with my Sensei in Roanoke, VA.. I've trained many styles and locations over the last few decades. I worked as a bouncer for years, but have always tried to avoid striking people, and gained some practical grappling experience in the clubs at night..
While I was in Radford U, majoring in business, I took every karate, Kung Fu, and kickboxing class offered at the time, and received certification as an assistant instructor in American Freestyle Karate under Dr Jerry Beasley. I worked on my boxing a few years at the Alexandria Boxing Club in the DC area. After a few years off, training a little by myself, I entered an era of jujitsu, training hard for three years, winning 3 of 4 gold and a bronze medal at the South Carolina stare grappling championship.. So.. Here I am..54, and although I have spinal problems from my army and auto mechanic careers, I'm ready to start training again, and would like to find enthusiastic people to work with. I am new to Nevada, and have not gotten settled enough to have a dojo, so I'm offering my services as a martial arts style personal trainer, and can come to your gym, home, office, the park, whatever.. My curriculum and hours are flexible.
