About Michelle
Hi, my name is Michelle Lee and I recently graduated with a degree in economics and math from Pomona College, a top 5 liberal arts college and the #1 liberal arts college on the west coast.
I graduated summa cum laud with a 4.0 GPA while taking advanced courses in statistics and pure math. I am now taking a gap year and preparing to attend law school.
I specialize in tutoring services for math, test preparation, and writing at all levels. For math, I have experience tutoring students from elementary arithmetic to college-level linear algebra. For test prep, I specialize in SAT tutoring, as I scored a 1560 on the SAT in my first try. For writing, I focus on academic and analytical writing, and I also review essays for college applications. During my college application cycle, I was accepted in USC and University of California schools, and also received the most prestigious scholarship in the UC system.
As a student, I understand how difficult it can be if certain teachers or standardized tests cannot adapt to your strengths and learning style. Having gone through the process, I am excited to help my fellow students out and teach them the tips and tricks I picked up that helped me succeed.
I first started tutoring formally in high school, whether it be during my duties as a member of the National Honor Society at my school or revisiting my middle school to help tutor students. I enjoy teaching and helping my students reach their potential in their desired subjects.
I have tutored through this website for the past 4 years with a high rate of satisfaction from my students. At my college, I was also a teaching assistant for advanced economics and math courses, where I tutored students in various classes and helped professors with lesson plans. I have receive extremely positive feedback from my peers and professors, and they commend my ability to break down complex subjects into smaller, more easily digestible lessons.

When I first begin working with a new student, I like to start with a diagnostic test to assess what areas my student needs help in as well as their learning style and pace. I am an adaptable teacher and I do everything I can to make the learning process as accessible and enjoyable as possible for my students. From there, I try to include my students in the lesson-planning process so that they have the ability to take control of their own learning.
I have worked with students of all ages, but I have the most experience with middle school and high school students. I have received very positive feedback from students I have tutored in the past and they have gone on to do extremely well in their classes with my help.
Do not be afraid to ask for help with whatever you need. Teachers are here to help their students and we want to see you succeed.
My last tutee was a high school student that needed help with their Algebra 2 classes at school. After a few months of tutoring, they were able to pass their class with an A and they told me that they were extremely grateful for my help.

Great tutor that has a lot of patience with students. Able to provide clear and concise examples to help better understand concepts.
Ever since my daughter has started working with Michelle, her grades and performance in class have drastically improved. My daughter normally has trouble following along with her teacher in class, but Michelle explains the material clearly and is very patient with my daughter. My daughter is now doing very well in her math classes thanks to Michelle's help!
In the time Michelle has worked with my daughter, she had been very thorough and patient when teaching. She is able to adapt her teaching style to my daughter's needs and it has been a very smooth and easy process to work with her. My daughter's grades have improved drastically since tutoring with Michelle.
Working with Michelle really helped me improve my problem-solving skills and keep up with my math classes. She is very good at breaking concepts into simple parts that are easy to understand and also introduces new ways to think about problems and solve them faster. Working with Michelle has been a great help in helping bring me up to speed in my Algrebra classes. At school, I often struggled to keep up because of the speed most teachers teach, but Michelle was able to help me break down the lessons and understand all of the concepts at my own pace. I often worked with her on concepts that my teacher has not taught yet. The lessons are often more thorough than the ones I am taught at school and have been very helpful. I would highly recommend working with her!
What I liked the most about working with Math preparation is that it fully constructs an idea in your head of how to see equations or any type of problem differently. The experience I received from my tutor, Michelle Lee, has not only improved my test-taking functionality but also strengthen my confidence which I know will help me later on in the future.
Michelle has been a great help for me in my Algebra 2 class. She explains concepts in a way that is very easy to understand and also taught me a lot of helpful tips that my teacher did not teach in class so I could solve problems more quickly.
