About Chloe
As a recent mathematics education graduate, I have a passion for providing quality education for all my students by using the best practices designed with each student's specific needs in mind. I am certified in the state of Pennsylvania and believe in teaching students to believe in their own growth in all areas including mathematically, academically, socially, and emotionally. After completing student teaching at Fox Chapel High School in Pittsburgh during the 2019-2020 school year, I have specific experience designing virtual learning for students and have a teachers understanding of online curriculum as well as student expectations.
Getting to know my students on a personal level is the most enjoyable part of my work. I believe that building personal and meaningful relationships with my students is the very first step in their success. Once we have a positive working relationship, I am better able to help students make progress towards their goals as well as conquere any challenges that they face along the way. Seeing a student become a critical thinker with effective problem solving skills is one of my biggest goals as a teacher.
For me, math was something that I always understood but was not necessarily passionate about until some of my own teachers told me that I could make a good math teacher. I was always helping my friends to understand during math class, and later throughout my college career, I truly found a passion for teaching. While some people describe themselves as math teachers, I describe myself as a teacher first, who happens to teach math. My emphasis is always on teaching and providing the best learning experiences possible for my students.
I am a recent graduate of Chatham University with a Bachelors in Mathematics, as well as a certificate in teaching through the Pennsylvania Department of Education. I have countless hours of field experience inside of middle school and high school math classrooms. Additionally, I have a experience creating virtual cirriculum for students and am familiar with the expectations as well as procedures used for effective virtual learning.

When beginning to work with a new student, I first and foremost try to have a personal conversation with the student. Knowing their interests, success, challenges, and motivation will allow me to know my students in a personal way before we even begin to talk about academics. Then, I would ask to see some of the math work that they have recently covered, and we can begin to talk about any challenges they are facing. This allows us to set some short term and long term goals for our time together, which will allow us to make focused progress throughout our lessons.
I have worked with a large group of diverse students any where from 7th grade to 12th grade.
