About Name
I tuutor students from elementary through graduate school and beyond: I focus on critical thinking and problem solving, and I'm passionate about the way that this focus empowers students to not only tackle their daily homework, but embrace lifelong learning. Students (of all ages!) can benefit from a new perspective on 'writing and problem solving with purpose.'
I've earned a Master's of Science and an MBA, and I believe equally in quantitative and qualitative study and analysis. I'm passionate about tutoring students in writing and practical problem solving, and have 10 years of combining subject-specific tutoring with a focus on improved executive skills, including time management and study techniques to improve everything from schedule management to SAT scores.
I enjoy knowing that, by working with me, students are better equipped to tackle what comes next--whether that's the next assignment, the next class, the next school year. Helping students understand how to ask the right questions, find the right information, manage and improve their executive and study skills, and think critically ensures that I meet this goal: and these massively important aspects of learning can and should be addressed regardless of the subject being tutored.
I've tutored as a volunteer since I was an ESL tutor in high school for refugees and adult language learners.
Throughout my undergraduate studies, I tutored elementary through middle school students in all subject areas, both as a paid tutor and as a volunteer. After finishing my undergraduate degree, I began tutoring SAT, ACT, and undergraduate students: I focused on critical thinking, writing, business and accounting, and math. After finishing my first graduate degree, I expanded my client base to include graduate students and professionals in need of aid focused on everything from study skills to professional writing to editing and proofreading.

I typically begin with a status update around a student's current academic level, and familiarity with the subject. I want to know if a student doesn't understand specific questions, or has a broader lack of understanding around a subject. I'm continually focused on improving a student's understanding of why a question is being asked, and how to address it, not just how to "find the right answer"--in doing so, I empower students to succeed far beyond their tutoring sessions.
I've tutored students from elementary school through graduate school, and regularly review, edit and proofread content intended for conference presentations and publication.
Many of my past students have had significant athletic or extracurricular commitments which led them to pursue hybrid, homeschool, or online education: I'm quite dedicated to helping these students succeed, and have a wealth of experience in doing so.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Think about what your goals are: do you want to feel less dread when you think about your homework? Do you want to understand how to answer the questions your teacher asks? Do you want to feel less lost in school in general? Do you just want help on one specific assignment? Do you understand why you're having trouble in a class or subject? It's ok if you don't know the answer to these questions--you just have to know what you're asking!
Recommendations
Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the teacher
Caroline is professional and efficient - she addresses subject specific tutoring, test prep, and writing with a thoughtful focus on improving students ability to excel in the future, too. She helped my daughter tackle math and science (not her faves...), but also helped her learn how to approach time management and problem solving. She became a better student, and felt confident applying to college.
