About Daniel
When someone asks me about what I love, or what I am passionate about, the first thing that comes to my mind is music. I have been playing the tuba ever since I was a small child, and my love for the instrument has only grown stronger through the years. In these years, I have managed to get into all county on multiple occasions, obtain many solos in my school band, and play in a college symphony while I was still in high school. Now that I am at a higher level of playing, I want to share my love of the tuba with anyone who is willing to make the commitment that is needed for this beautiful instrument.

Did you know that music can be your child's ticket to a sizable scholarship for college? Not only that, but the one instrument that colleges are always looking for is the Tuba! I have seen this firsthand when I was applying to colleges, and when I played for the college band in high school, I was immediately offered almost double the scholarship money just because they knew about my passion for music. While every musical instrument will get your child some money for college, it is almost guaranteed that you will get a massive boost in scholarship if you emphasize your love for the Tuba.
I have taught multiple people in these past couple of years, one of them being a high school freshman who is now the first chair Tuba in his school’s advanced symphony, and another being my college marching band director, Pat Patterson’s, son. I hope to teach and encourage my students to be the best that they can be in the field of music, and maybe even help them find out that they had a hidden talent for music from the beginning.
I have always loved seeing the growth that people go through when they learn something new. Whether that be math, science, or music, a student that is passionate about what they are learning is something that I love to see. I particularly love to teach music because it is something that nobody can truly master, and it is up to the student to see how far they can take themself in the field.
I have always loved explaining concepts, ideas, and new activities to people. when I was asked by my band director in high school to teach a new freshman how to play the tuba, I knew that teaching was something that I wanted to do for my life.
I have been playing the Tuba ever since 4th grade, and through those years have gotten lessons from many people who were all at different levels of playing. I have experience in music tutoring from when I was in highschool, and most recently, I taught my band director's son how to play his Tuba for his school's wind symphony.
I am also an education major in college, so I have picked up many teaching strategies that will make the lessons much easier for both me and, most importantly, the student.

I start off with basic books that teach the fundamentals of the instrument until I see that the student has a good understanding of how it functions. Next, scales and warmups will be taught, and I will only move on to the next set of scales once the student has the ones that are taught to them down. I will move at the student's pace so that it is a stress free environment, as well as an educational one. as the student becomes more comfortable with the instrument, songs will be given for them to practice and play. If the student has any songs that they would like to learn how to play, I would be happy to guide them through it.
I have worked with brand new players as well as those who have some experience. my lessons will be based on how advanced the student is, so there will always be a challenge, but never one that they cannot overcome.
Hire a teacher that is willing to work at the student's pace, not the teacher's. Music can either be a very fun, or a very stressful hobby. If a teacher is pushing you to do more than you can, you could lose your passion for music completely, and end up hating your instrument.
When visiting my band director's house to teach his son, he told me that his son would always be excited to start our lessons, and that he was noticeably improving, according to his friends.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Playing any instrument is a big commitment, so really think through whether the instrument you pick is one that you will stick with for years to come, or if it is just a passing thought.
