About Mark
If you’re serious about improving your photography, I offer expert-level mentoring built on more than four decades of professional experience.
I have worked as a professional photographer since 1980 and was among the first photographers in Northeast Ohio to fully transition to digital photography in 2000. This early adoption gave me a deep understanding of both the technical and artistic sides of modern photography—knowledge I now share with my students in a clear, practical way.
I am the creator and instructor of Digital Photography 101, a course that has helped students of all ages quickly gain confidence and dramatically improve their results.
My mentoring helps you develop both technical mastery and creative vision, including:
• Camera settings, exposure, and lens selection
• Composition and visual storytelling
• Lighting techniques for professional-quality images
• Photo editing using Photoshop and affordable alternatives
• How to achieve consistent, portfolio-quality results
I also provide guidance on using photography to strengthen your personal or business presence on platforms such as LinkedIn, Instagram, and YouTube.
Every session is customized to your goals, skill level, and interests. Whether you are a beginner or looking to refine advanced skills, I will help you progress quickly and confidently.

I've always enjoyed sharing my love and knowledge of photography with others and teaching is a great way to do it.
In fact, I taught Basic Photography and Black-and-White Darkroom classes at Cuyahoga Community College for one semester to see how I would like teaching and that experience confirmed it!

When working with a new student, I like to chat with them to discover exactly what they would like to learn and develop a plan that will help them achieve their goals.
I've worked with students from eighteen to eighty.
Before hiring a teacher, speak with them on the phone to get a feel for their personality. If you're not comfortable with how the call went - they probably aren't the best match for you.
I love learning new photography techniques myself. I've been learning to shoot photos and video in 360 degrees and I'm pleased with how my first published video turned out - the Asian Lantern Festival at the CLEveland Metroparks Zoo: (concealed information)

We recently had our family portrait taken in our home and are thrilled with how it turned out. Everyone was relaxed in our own environment and Mark's sense of humor made the session a lot of fun.

Details
Currently, lessons are $75 per 1.5 hour session. Additional time is $25 per 1/2 hour. These fees may increase depending on the time of year and my availability. I will confirm my fees with the student prior to scheduling our first lesson.
We can meet at the North Ridgeville Public Library or my home/studio. We can also meet at another location, however, travel time ($20 per 1/2 hour) and mileage is additional.
