About Debbie

My method of teaching is unique and one-of-a-kind in this area. I am so excited to share with you why my students learn to sigthread quickly and easily, within the first month of lessons, and why they progress at a faster-than-average pace through their material. Not only that - but they will have fun in the process! :)

I have been teaching piano for over 25 years and it is truly a passion of mine! I absolutely LOVE working with children, and have a gift for relating to them in a positive, warm way. In the past, I've been an elementary school teacher, a children's director at my local church, and a speech-therapist in the public schools. And without a doubt - teaching piano is my favorite. So much so, that I no longer do any of these other jobs - but am pursuing my piano business full-time.

I grew up with my Mom being a piano teacher. She still teaches piano to over 20 students to this day - and she is 83 years old!

I started my own business back in 1993, when my first daughter was born, as a way that I could be home more with my children.

Prior to that, I was an elementary school teacher.

Besides my 26 years of experience teaching (since 1993) - I have most recently hired a private piano coach whom I have been working with since July of 2019. I have now completed 2 intense training seminars with him and have grown immensely in the last 6 months!

About the lesson

The first step to getting started is to schedule a free, no-obligation introductory lesson. During this first lesson, I help students learn the basic facts that they need to play music… and then I teach them 4-6 songs within about 20 minutes. It’s very exciting and motivating for a new student to see how quickly they can learn! It is also an opportunity for you to meet me, see the studio, to make sure we are going to be a good fit for each other, as well as go over any questions you might have regarding lessons.

Mostly - elementary age children (ages 6 - teenagers). I am, however, currently starting an adult piano class for the first time!

Look for a teacher who is fairly priced, with experience, but MOST IMPORTANTLY, one who works well with children. Some teachers might be quite gifted in piano themselves, but do now work well with children. They aren't patient with the learning process and/or just don't explain things in such a way that the child understands. They MUST have the gift of teaching. I do. :)

My Winter Piano Recital!! It was quite special and so much fun! My mom and I combined our piano students (so around 45 students total) and held it at a local church in the community.

Yes, it is $110/month during the school year term (September - May). Summer session is different and offers a few different options - including a summer camp! :)
