About Patrick
Professor Emeritus of Saxophone at Florida State University (1974-2016); Fulbright Scholar; Classical Soloist and Chamber Music Recitalist in Europe, Australia, China, South America, Japan, and USA. Jazz/Pop/Rock performer with Sammy Davis Jr., The Jackson Five, The Four Tops, Johnny Mathis, The Temptations, Seal, etc. Currently active in the Tampa Bay Area as teacher, recitalist, and with the Florida Orchestra.
I truly enjoy igniting the love and passion of music-making in serious students that play the saxophone. I require commitment and dedication from all my students, and design a specific practice routine - via fundamentals (ttfvopi), facility studies, etudes, solo and band repertoire, improvisation - tailored specifically to the personality, talents, and experience of each student. And we have fun learning and developing together!
Passion for performance and teaching lead me to acquire two degrees in performance from Baldwin- Wallace Conservatory of Music (Ohio) and The University of Michigan, respectively. Subsequently, in 1974 I began a 42 yr. career in performance and teaching at The Florida State University College of Music.
As former Professor of Saxophone at The Florida State University College of Music, I have over 40 yrs. of experience teaching students of all ages - from 12 to 75 years of age!

Access the performance level of the student, their personality, and their learning style. Work with them to mutually achieve their desired musical goals by an individual-specific set of saxophone fundamentals, e.g. tone, articulation, facility, vibrato, overtones, improvisation; technical studies; musical studies/excerpts; and repertoire.
All kinds in terms of age, experience, and music style preference, e.g. classical, jazz, r & b, funk, and pop.
If you are a serious student who will practice consistently, I will guarantee your musical success. And we will have fun along the way!
Actually, four events:
As tenor saxophonist with The Florida Orchestra: Performance of “Romeo and Juliet Suite” by Serge Prokofiev.
As baritone saxophonist with The Florida Orchestra: “Women Rock” Concert. A concert featuring classic songs by women composers and performers, i.e. Tina Turner, Carole King, and Aretha Franklin.
As teacher of saxophone chamber groups (quartet, quintet, and 15 member ensemble) at King and Durant High Schools. Superior performances at District and State made me quite happy and proud of their work ethic and resultant success!
Online premiere of "Concerto for Saxophone and Symphonic Band" by Daniel Fulmer with the Jacksonville University Symphonic Band. Performance took place in October, 2020 and is currently available for viewing via YouTube.

Individual Lessons: $60 per Hour
Weekly Hr. Lessons for 2 Month Min.: $50 a lesson
1 1/2 Hr. Group Lessons, 2-5 students: $85 lesson
