About Gabriel
I'm from Chile but currently living in New York City. I have 10+ years of experience teaching both English and Spanish. My lessons are diverse depending on what the student wants to accomplish. I follow the natural approach which means we'll not only see grammar and vocabulary but also apply those in real conversations to practice and develop speaking and listening skills.
I love teaching my native language. It makes me happy to see how the student is progressing while I challenge them to advance more each time. After studying translation English to Spanish, I understood that languages are not only ways of communication, but also part of our culture.
As a translation student, back in my country, I started teaching Spanish to the foreigners who were in Chile studying at the university.
I currently work as a full-time teacher for middle school students in Brooklyn, NY. Since 2010, I've taught several students from different backgrounds and ages.

With a new student, I start by reviewing what they previously know and explain how the lessons are going to go in detail. The idea is that the student is clear as to what to expect. We'll start speaking in Spanish from day one and won't stop.
All kinds of students, from 10-year-olds to 65-year-olds, from different countries.
I would suggest looking for a native speaker first of all. Then, see if the approach of teaching pushes your thinking and challenges you to become better. I strongly believe that in order for anyone to learn a new language, one needs to go beyond and the teacher needs to be passionate.
