About Nick
I am extremely expirenced in what I do. I have 8 years in the aquatics industry, and have many successful students who have went on to compete at all levels of competition. My expertise lies with children aged 3-14, however, I am willing to teach all ages and skill levels. I can help your child get comfortable getting their face wet for the first time, or help your teen perfect their butterfly for the big swim meet. I am Lifeguard/CPR certified instructor, so your child will always be safe under my instruction. I will travel to you and teach year round as long as you have the facility to accomidate.
I started teaching swim lessons when I was 14 years old with my sister. She got me my first job and I've been doing it ever since. It's something I love to do and working with kids is something I am passionate about.
I have 8 years experience in the aquatics industry.
I have been trained in 3 different swimming curriculums.
I have Lifeguard/First Aid/CPR certifications.
I have many successful students at all levels of competition.
I am extremely experienced working with special needs students.

The first part of the process is evaluating the student's skill level. Whether they are terrified of being in the water by themselves or competing at a swim team level, evaluating their skill level is key. Once evaluated, I will personalize their swim lessons to their strengths and weaknesses. Once we have a lesson plan in place, we will continue to chip away at their weaknesses and build their strengths until you are satisfied with their results.
I have worked with students of all types. Kids who parents swore up and down would never swim, the children who have temperament issues, children with special needs (Autism, Down Syndrome, ADHD, etc.) I have a wide variety of experiences with a large number of wonderful children.
Find someone that you enjoy having as a teacher. I may be strict and expect a lot of my students, but I will make lessons fun. I enjoy making my kids laugh and having fun with them. Swimming first and foremost should be fun, and while I may want the best for my students, I will make sure that them having fun is a priority for me, as well as ensure their safety and progress.
I recently started working at a new aquatic center and on my first day, I was able to teach a young girl who had been struggling with breast stroke. We were able to get a good foundation going with her stroke by the end of the lesson and her mother pulled me aside and told me how pleased she was as her daughter had been working on breaststroke for months and had not made the progress she had with any teacher that she did with me.

My older son S. started private lessons with Nick for about 2 years. First, we started at Kids First Swim where Nick was working. Then, when we heard Nick was moving to Goldfish in Columbia, we moved with him so that S. could continue learning from Nick. S. is a pretty shy kid who needs a lot of tender encouragement, and Nick did just that for him. And less than 2 years after starting swim lessons with Nick, S. began competitive swimming last year. and he LOVES it! And I do believe Nick had something to do that with that. I'm grateful for Nick's teaching and coaching - and I'm grateful that Nick was exactly the kind of teacher S. needed.
My younger son D. started private lessons with Nick when he was 4 years old and he's been making great progress!
