About Timothy
I focus on teaching the fundamentals, theory and understanding the reasoning why. I was taught by a very strict Chinese teacher who physically reprimanded me for imperfections, so I am the farthest thing from a strict teacher. I enjoy seeing students learn, as well as figure out their interests that set them apart from other musicians. My goal is to teach students until I am out of a job and no longer needed, because they are at a level that the'yre confident enough to self teach! :)
I am classically trained, and have studied piano for 18 years. I play Chopin, Beethoven as well as modern and contemporary. I enjoy performing as much as teaching, and have played cruise ships, hotels and resorts, as well as at the Kravis. Teaching wise, I have taught not only piano, but theory and tennis on Palm Beach Island

My beginning curriculum centers around understanding and breaking down the faux-monster than piano and reading music is. I explain the process, reading notes, notes on the piano, looking at the staff, and how it works! Beginning is the best, because we get to learn the students working style together!
I work with students of all experience levels and ages, from beginners to more experienced players, aged 4-45.
I hated piano growing up. It is ok if you hate it too! Give it a try and be realistic with your goals. I thought I was going to be attending Julliard or Berkeley and even took tours of both, and I hated the idea of playing piano ALL DAY, EVERY DAY. Once I realized that my joy from piano came from jamming, teaching and performing for crowds and singing, it changed everything. Piano is and CAN be, fun, I promise!
I have a student that intentionally learned the Jurassic Park theme song to surprise me. I was excited not only because of the self-teaching he proved to possess, but also because I love Jurassic Park!
