About Steven
I'm a professional musician, retired from the USAF Bands after 24 years. I'm well versed in all types of music - classical, jazz, pop etc. I also served as Musical Director for many AF group (Chamber ensembles, pop/rock groups and Jazz Bands). During my career I gave numerous clinics, master classes and adjudicated festivals and solo ensemble competitions.
In particular, I focus on teaching the student to reach a level in which he/she begins to critique himself, in addition to always seeking outside instruction.

I assess their level and inquire as to their goals. I also examine their instrument and offer solutions to tweak and repair slides & mouthpiece recommendations. I mention that regular practice is the only way to see improvement and I help the student seek realistic goals. While regular, stuctured lessons are naturally accomplished, I also deviate lessons to answer questions and keep the lesson fun for the student. I also demonstrate what I am asking them to do.
