My love and passion for teaching is clear to anyone who has worked with me. It is a great honor to help any indivual discover the magic and joy that can come with music of any kind. I believe we can discover that together.
I grew up with my mother teaching private music lessons in our living room everyday after school. I would sit silently around the corner carefully listening and observing. By the time I was 16 years-old I had my first private cello student and built from there. By the time I was 21 years-old and living on my own, I had successfully created my own private studio out of my home with 30+ private students a week. I am now 26 years-old and full of experience and a deep love for sharing the gift of music. I have recently moved across the country from California to Boston in order to further my musical career.
BA in Music performance for cello from Humboldt State University.
10 plus years of private music teaching for cello, violin, piano and voice with an average of 30 students a week.
5 years as an employee of the Humboldt Music Academy.
Cello teacher at various music camps around the country such as Lark Music Camp.
2 years as president of the volunteer organization North Coast Music Mentors, bringing music to underprivileged children in northern California.
Member of various Celtic bands.

My teaching motto is "the student is in charge". By this I mean that I will adjust our lessons to any style or direction the student wishes to go with their musical journey (with some exceptions). My primary styles of expertise reside in celtic, old-time, general folk, rhythmic exploration on strings, and classical. If your interests are in fiddle styled music we will be learning by rote (without sheet music). Everyone can play music but it takes a specific teacher to help them along the way. For the complete beginner, we will find fun ways to learn the basics such as technique, ear training, theory and note reading without it feeling limiting or boring. For the more advanced players, we will dive into enjoyable challenges in your personal interests and beyond.
All ages and levels of playing and learning abilities. My youngest was 4 years-old and my oldest was 76 years-old. I have worked with complete beginners, advanced players and everyone in between. I have worked with students with learning disabilities as well such as ADD, ADHD, dyslexia, aspergers and down syndrome.
Have a response to my question, "Why do you want to learn music/this specific instrument?" Any answer will do. For example inspirational players, to make a band, to jam, personal goals, or perhaps you just like the way it sounds!

$50 for an hour long lesson
$35 for 45 minutes
$25 for half hour
$5 traveling fee when distance is more than 5 miles
If students intend to take weekly lessons, I offer a free 30 minute meet and greet lesson to discuss in person what to expect.
