About James
Hi! I am a conservatory-trained professional violinist and violist with over a decade of experience playing with top American orchestras including the symphonies of Cleveland, Boston, Atlanta, and San Diego. I have extensive chamber music and solo experience, having performed widely across Europe, the US, and South America. In addition to my performing career, I've held several teaching positions at colleges and universities in Ohio, Tennessee, and Massachusetts. I specialize in technique, orchestral excerpts, solo repertoire, music theory, and I also coach chamber music groups. I teach gifted students from middle-school age through college, as well as professionals who are taking orchestral auditions. My teachers have included violinists and violists at the Juilliard School, the Curtis Institute, and the Cleveland Institute of Music. I've additionally studied with concertmasters and principal players of the Boston Symphony and Cleveland Orchestra. I look forward to helping you or your child take the next step toward violin or viola performance mastery!
