About Claudia
I sang professionally in German theatres for eight years.
Since then, I have been working with voice students from preachers to teachers to singers. I have developed a method based in classical singing technique combined with speech and voice for the stage and other communication situations.
I work with individuals on presentation skills, public speaking, voice training, clear articulation, and vocal resonance to help you cultivate a commanding presence and excellent verbal skills. We will work to uncover your unique way of engaging listeners, freeing your natural abilities to connect, captivate, and compel attention in a process tailor fitted to your needs and communication goals.
When you work with me, I guide you through a supportive step-by-step learning experience.
You will become comfortable with your body and voice allowing you to easily access new presentation, performance, and communication skills, so that your ideas, insights, and vocal expression all flow naturally and authentically.
I also work as a stage director with performers of differing experience levels. I have taught Voice and Articulation at Eastern Michigan University and singing classes at Bowling Green State University.
I am a certified practitioner in the Lessac Voice and Movement Method with Bachelor’s and a Master’s degrees in Vocal Performance and a Ph.D. in Theatre and Performance Studies.

About the lesson

We begin by clarifying the student's goals and any known voice or speech issues. Then we proceed by exploring breath, relaxation, and healthy spinal alignment. From here we explore humming and warm ups and then the student will read or sing a sample phrase that they bring with them or that I provide. This will be recorded for future reference. We then discuss what the student felt while vocalizing the phrase and play with different ways to perform it. We explore moving in different ways applying different energies and ways to express the phrase. We wrap up the fist session by discussing the student's impressions and having them describe specific sensations having to do with breathing, alignment, and paying attention to sensations in the facial area. This work brings awareness to just how the person produces spoken and/or sung sounds and words.
