About Hugh
I have been tutoring on and off since 2012 and have taught English Literature in several universities. I have helped many students with their exams and getting into their chosen schools. I have a strong academic background (a Phd/Dphil) which helps at all levels and have taught students from ages 8-18

All of my classes centre on the student's needs and interests. I like to base what we study on their enthusiasms as well as the curriculum. By translating the skills they need into terms that make sense to them, together, the student and I can approach writing or reading as something exciting rather than drudgery. While I make sure that students meet high standards of writing, I try to make the class a space where discussion leads first to reflection and then to the internalization of skills, rather than mere cramming.
