About Emily
As a child, I lived an introverted life, terrified to have conversations with anyone, even some of my friends. However, I have always had a love for composition, ranging from basic eloquent entries in my journal to extensive professional research papers. Through a plethora of awkward moments in middle school, I discovered a new love for expressing my thoughts via public speaking. Since then, I have competed in speech and debate tournaments, composed scripts for research videos, and written countless bits of poetry. Now, I am well versed in writing and orating a wide range of composition styles, everything from short stories, to thesis papers, to free verse poetry, to Lincoln Douglas debate speeches.
My method of tutoring implements the classical method, meaning there will be a focus on repetition and practice (as opposed to extensive assignments), and other lessons may tie into the current one depending on the direction we choose to follow; this will be modified to how your student learns best. I will be using bits and pieces of different curriculums, but there is no need to purchase anything. I may require a few reading assignments, but I will provide all the materials needed. I recommend that you choose a couple of specific areas you would like to focus on; covering more than a couple of areas could result in unnecessary stress and confusion. But we will discuss what you desire and expect from your child's experience, and what you request will be the ultimate deciding factor.
