About Trudy
I fell in love with dance at an early age which peaked my curiosity as to how the body moves and functions optimally. Shortly after graduating from college, I became certificated as a Personal Training. Add in a passion for yoga and over 10 years of deep study, that has cheerfully lead me to contortion training and an obsession for handstands. I believe in blending the knowledge I have gained to tailor programs to fit your goals.
• NSCA Certified Personal Trainer since 2012 • Mentorship through UCLA Recreation • 200 hour Yoga Certification • BFA in Dance from University of Minnesota • Kettlebell and TRX certification • Helping numerous clients rehab various injuries over the years, including shoulder impingement, back pain, knee pain, frozen shoulder, sciatica. A passion for learning new techniques and deepening my own practice which enables me to cater to a varied clientele.

The initial session consists of sitting down to discuss your current goals, workout routine, past or current injuries and finally what you are looking to get out of working with a trainer. It will be followed by a movement assessment that will allow me to tailor your program and figure out your natural movement patterns that may or may not need improvement. After the initial session, it is my goal to meet you where you are at, teach you a few new concepts about movement and get to work!
I have had the pleasure of working with a wide range of clients in terms of age, injury and ability. I find my work suited people who struggle with physical ailments, injuries and and the ones who want to make progress towards their goals. I also love when I find that client that is in it for the long haul, knowing that this process takes time but is worth every bit along the way. While working at UCLA Recreation, I had the opportunity to work with stressed out grad students, faculty and community members and most notably a program aimed at helping reduce injury on the job site. My work has involved seniors, various professions with serious injuries related to their jobs, and people looking to make healthy lifestyle changes.
There are so many different types of trainers to chose from. Having an understanding of what motivates you and the trainers teaching style will give you an idea if it is a match or not. Building trust and rapport with your trainer is so vital to your success and in my own opinion, being seen and heard for your effort is equally as empowering on this fitness journey.
I started working with a client who had been taking public yoga classes for about a decade. When we first started training, he was unable to balance on one leg. He took the typical "yoga cues" and applied them to his practice, which unfortunately were not the right cues for his body. His shoulders were elevated and shoulder movement were affected. Back extension felt uncomfortable and the basic stepping to the top of the mat was quite challenging. We have worked together to bring understanding about proper alignment and active muscle engagement. After working together for 2 years, he can now: • Stand on one leg for well over a minute while doing various transitions • Talks about his hips feeling more mobile while taking long walks • Increased mobility in major joints as well as the spine • Downward facing dog is a resting pose that look strong and aligned • Core strength has increased • Able to invert and find balance while on his hands His dedication and consistency has allowed him to reach goals he never thought possible and currently has big goals for 2021!
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
• What is it you are looking to gain in working with a trainer? • How often would you like to train - combination of with a trainer and on your own. • How committed are you to starting and continuing? • What type of training style are you looking for? • How familiar is this trainer with what you are looking to accomplish? • Does the trainer have experience with the level of fitness you are currently at?

I have been training and stretching with Trudy for the last 3-4 years. We met when she was working at UCLA. Her qualifications are impeccable and she is a pleasure to train with. She knows her stuff and she has wonderful enthusiasm for her profession.
Trudy is a phenomenal yoga instructor! Super inspiring, yet relatable. I’m an on-again off-again lazy yoga enthusiast and her classes always let me ease back into my practice without any judgement. I loved taking her classes at Forward Fold.Trudy is the best yoga teacher I have had the pleasure to learn from. She is an amazing instructor and coach, possessing an impressive amount of knowledge and insight. She knows where to push me and how to build upon my practice. We constantly work on developing strength, flexibility and awareness while never forgetting the fundamentals of breathing, alignment and mobility. Her sessions are always organized, thoughtful, fun and challenging. Trudy is one of a kind and I am grateful to benefit from her instruction. I look forward to continuing my journey with her.
Working with Trudy is fantastic. She focus my training on MY needs. I am not a workout buff, but I’ve been with Truform for over 5 years. And never felt better. And never have gotten hurt. Major accomplishments for a senior. She’s the BEST!!!!!
