About Ava
I am a singing tutor with 8 years of experience and a Bachelor of Music Education with a Voice Focus. I have coached approximately 200 students across Musical Theatre, Pop, Classical, Rock, and Jazz vocal styles. My lessons focus on breath support, pitch accuracy, tone development, vocal health, and stage performance confidence. I am particularly experienced in helping students develop the specific skills needed for Musical Theatre auditions, school productions, and professional performance. My approach combines technical precision with creative freedom so students develop both strong skill and genuine artistic self-expression. I use recording software, ear training tools, and backing tracks to keep lessons dynamic and progress visible. I also cover music theory relevant to singers including scales, rhythm, intervals, and basic harmony. I have coached students who have gone on to professional stage careers and those who simply want to enjoy singing more. I am warm, encouraging, and genuinely patient with students at every level. My singing lessons are structured to build technique, expression, and confidence in every session. Every lesson starts with a thorough warm-up covering breathing, resonance work, and graduated scale patterns appropriate to the student's current level. I assess each new student's vocal characteristics and current technique before creating a personalised and progressive lesson programme. Breathing and breath support are the central focus of early lessons because they underpin every other aspect of great singing. Pitch and intonation training progresses through ear training exercises, interval work, and melodic challenges using both piano and digital tools. Pop and Contemporary students work on stylistic delivery, vocal riffs, runs, and authentic emotional expression. Classical and Musical Theatre students develop formal technique, diction, character expression, and the skills required for examination and audition repertoire. I record all significant performances so students can monitor their development and identify areas for improvement. Performance preparation includes stage presence, managing performance nerves, and delivering emotionally engaging performances. My commitment is for every student to sing freely, confidently, and with genuine musical joy.
