About Lewis

I am a PGCE-qualified educator with a diverse and rigorous academic background. My qualifications allow me to bridge the gap between theoretical science and practical engineering:
BSc in Geography
HNC in Electrical and Electronic Engineering
A-Levels in Physics, Business Studies, and Geography
Specialist Engineering & STEM Tuition
My experience in Further Education is extensive. I have a proven track record of teaching Engineering from GCSE level through to HNC, including the new T-Level qualifications. My teaching philosophy is built on the "Gradual Release of Responsibility" model. I believe that confidence is the biggest barrier to success in STEM and Geography, so I structure my lessons to move from guided support to independent mastery.
Diagnostic Assessment: We begin by identifying specific "knowledge gaps." In subjects like Maths and Physics, missing a foundation can make advanced topics impossible.
Scaffolded Learning (I Do, We Do, You Do):
I Do: I demonstrate the concept or solve a complex engineering problem, explaining the "why" behind every step.
We Do: We work through several examples together. I use Dual Coding—combining verbal explanations with visual diagrams—to help you process information more effectively.
You Do: You tackle a problem independently while I provide real-time feedback.
Active Recall & Spaced Repetition: We don't just "read" notes. We use past paper questions and flashcard-style testing to ensure the information moves from your short-term memory to your long-term memory.
