About Joshua
I am a certified Feldenkrais practitioner who has been teaching movement lessons for 3 years. I teach both group classes and individual sessions. Feldenkrais is a system for reorganizing the neuromuscular system through gentle, precise movements and directed awareness. My students have reported less pain, more self-awareness, and a deeper relationship with other movement-based practices, such as dance, music, or yoga. I have also been a teacher of young children, a private tutor, and a performing musician and poet. All of these influence my teaching and my ability to communicate new concepts in a clear, creative, and engaging style.
Before I did this work, I was a musician who could no longer my instrument due to chronic pain. Feldenkrais has been the single most important part of my journey out of pain and back into a state of health where I am in love with music again and no longer afraid to move my body. The path to neuromuscular wellness does not have to be an arduous task. It can be fun, pleasurable, and full of self-discovery.

When you come to class, you are entering a kinetic space where judgement is replaced with curiosity, posture with possibility. As a certified Feldenkrais practitioner, I will guide you through patterns of gentle movement rooted in human development, martial arts, and neuromuscular mapping so you can better sense and experience the reality of your body.
For my group classes, there is often a theme that ties the lessons together, such as Balancing the Nervous System for Sleep, or Opening the Voice for Singing and Speaking. Though these lessons have a specific focus, students notice improvement in other aspects of self as well.
For individual sessions, we focus on the students specific difficulties, finding patterns of movement that are most relevant to improving the system.
In this work, you are the expert on your own body, and you are never mandated to do anything outside what feels safe for your system. Class is a place of care, humor, and exploration, where you are invited to bring your whole self.

Details
Individual lesson rates are on a sliding scale from $35-65/hr. If this is not affordable for you, please reach out and I'm sure we can work something out. The group classes I teach are on a scale from $5-25/hr
