About Oliver
Enthusiastic and passionate about language, I can safely say I am a linguistics nerd. My love for French is something I have always wanted to pass on to others, and above all, this is why I teach.
Education is a cause dear to my heart; coming from a working class, state school background and going on to rank top of my class at the University of Cambridge, I understand how important it is to have dedicated teachers who are truly there to help.
As a current student, I understand the demands of contemporary exam specifications. Having received A*A*A* at A-level and eight grade 9s at GCSE, I can assure you that I understand what examiners want and what it takes to succeed.

Drawing on my linguistics background, I employ teaching methods shown to genuinely enhance language acquisition. This involves focusing on immersion and comprehensible input to increase student confidence in using French. Weekly, hour-long sessions are prepared around individual student needs, using specialist knowledge in phonetics and syntax to provide insights into the inner workings of language. Not only does this prepare students for GCSE and A-level examinations, but also ensures students can use French with real speakers in real situations.
I have been a French tutor with the Access Project for over a year, trained in how to deliver engaging online tuition, alongside training with Teach First to develop key teaching competencies. Previously, I worked at summer language camps, delivering daily lessons in English as a second language. I have an enhanced DBS check to assure you of your safety.
