About Vanessa
Vanessa has been playing the flute since she was only 6 years old. She studied at Vanier College with Heather Howes, at Concordia University with Liselyn Adams and Guy Pelletier and at l'Universidad de Guanajuato with Cuauhtémoc Trejo. She performed as a soloist with the Orchestre Symphonique de L'Ile in 2016 as a winner of the Concordia Concerto Competition, and has performed with many ensembles, including the Orchestre Philharmonique Équitable and the Grand Ensemble de Flutes de Montreal, as well as premiering several pieces at the 2019 Domaine Forget New Music program. She has also created, directed, performed in, and composed music in her multi-disciplinary performance entitled Via Liber Animum in 2017. She has been teaching private flute lessons since 2009 to students of all ages and levels. She works with different academies and schools, including Collège Durocher Saint-Lambert, École de musique de Verdun, Collège Villa-Maria and Externat Mont Jésus-Marie and currently performs with different musical projects, including Mosaiq Collective, Boutique Feelings and Meteor Heart.

Vanessa uses different methods in combination to provide a perfectly-tailored program for each individual student's needs and goals. These methods include Suzuki, Royal Conservatory of Music, as well as L'École des jeunes. Focused work on auditions, performances, improvisation, and incorporating extended techniques & beatboxing are also an option. She also incorporates theory and ear training for a rounded learning process. She works with each student to gain proper technique and posture by using the natural and comfortable physical limitations of their own bodies, as well as to develop better musicality and practice skills. Since many musicians can potentially get injured without proper technique, she makes sure to correct and adjust this in order to prevent future injuries. She also focuses on positive reinforcement and creating a relatable atmosphere so that students will feel encouraged and motivated. Lessons are available in English, French or Spanish.
