About My Lessons
My lessons in English writing and art history are designed to build both technical mastery and intellectual confidence. I focus on helping students not only understand the material, but learn how to think, analyze, and express ideas at a higher level across writing, visual culture, and critical reasoning.
Teaching Method & Techniques
My approach blends structure with creativity. I start by diagnosing how each student learns and what their specific goals are—whether that’s improving essay clarity, strengthening argumentation, preparing for AP or IB exams, building college-level writing skills, or developing a deeper understanding of art history.
I use:
Step-by-step frameworks for essay structure, thesis development, and argument flow
Guided close reading and visual analysis techniques
Socratic questioning to strengthen critical thinking
Live editing and annotation of student work
Visual references, timelines, and case studies for art history
Clear rubrics so students know exactly what “excellent” looks like
The goal is to make complex ideas feel manageable and to give students tools they can reuse independently.
A Typical Lesson Plan
Each session is structured but flexible:
Check-in & Goal Setting (5 minutes)
Review recent work, clarify what the student wants to improve, and set a concrete objective for the session.
Core Instruction (15–25 minutes)
Introduce or refine a specific skill—such as crafting stronger thesis statements, analyzing symbolism in a painting, structuring a comparative essay, or understanding a historical movement and its cultural context.
Applied Practice (15–25 minutes)
Work directly on the student’s writing, exam prep materials, or visual analysis using real examples. I guide revisions in real time and explain the reasoning behind each change.
Wrap-Up & Take-Home Strategy (5–10 minutes)
Summarize key takeaways and assign a short, targeted exercise or framework the student can apply between sessions.
What Sets Me Apart
I bridge academic rigor with real-world relevance, helping students see why writing and art history actually matter.
I focus on transferable skills—argumentation, clarity, critical analysis, and creative thinking—not just test performance.
I customize every lesson rather than using one-size-fits-all worksheets.
I emphasize confidence-building, so students become more independent and less anxious about writing or complex material.
I bring a multidisciplinary perspective that connects art, culture, history, and contemporary issues into one coherent learning experience.
Who the Lessons Are For
My lessons are ideal for:
Middle school, high school, and college students
Students preparing for AP, IB, SAT/ACT writing, or college essays
Learners who struggle with organization, analysis, or confidence in writing
Students who want to deepen their understanding of art history beyond memorization
Creative students who want to strengthen both analytical and expressive skills
Whether a student needs structured academic support or enrichment-level exploration, my goal is to help them become sharper thinkers, stronger writers, and more confident learners.
