About Yvette
Former elementary school teacher for CCSD of 12 years. I have taught 2nd and 3rd grades reading/language arts. I have my own family now with high demands, so I decided to take a break from the responsibilities of the classroom, but still love teaching and helping students who struggle. Tutoring is the perfect balance.

I use a fluency assessment, a reading comprehension assessment, and a phonics based assessment to find where your child’s most comfortable reading level is, and we build from there. Next, we will start using phonics to fill in the gaps where your child struggles with 70 specific phonogram combinations in the English language. Each session will have time for phonograms practice, time for reading practice with strategies given during reading with comprehension, and an assessment before the session’s closure. If you’re at your wits end trying to help your child with reading, concerned about improving their reading level, frustrated with the child’s lack of motivation with reading, or concerned that they have fallen below grade level, tutoring can be a great way to help your child, but remove yourself from the stressful situation of being your child’s teacher.

Details
I have no problems with cancellations and rescheduling. Due to high demand schedule, I need to book my sessions on Friday afternoons and Saturdays. I prefer to travel to a local library to work with students as this allows for quiet focussed setting, without distractions from the home.
