About Hong Ting
I was fortunate enough to have a few teachers throughout my school life, who have left a deep impression on me. Not only were they excellent in imparting knowledge, their lessons were also fun and interesting. Most importantly, the mindset changes and life lessons they taught made me an infinitely better person. I won't pretend that I am full of wisdom and lessons with me will change your life. But what I am certain is I will commit my very best to ensure you learn concepts with good understanding, and do well in examinations. I still aspire to be someone who can change others' lives deeply and this passion allows me to teach with enthusiasm and go beyond my scope to make your learning experience the best it can be.

My teaching strategies: 1) Active recall - Test students' understanding of concepts by asking questions. By actively retrieving information, students become familiar with the "feeling" of being in examinations. Also enhances memory. 2) Students become the teacher - After learning, I ask students to teach me concepts in their own words. This deepens understanding and also highlights any weakness. 3) Targeted teaching: I note down individual weaknesses e.g. certain question types or topics, to revisit in the future. Personalized targeted teaching ensures maximum efficiency when learning. 4) Analogies and real life examples - By linking foreign concepts to familiar things in daily life, I make learning more engaging and maximize retention. I am committed to the academic excellence of my students because I have a passion for teaching and helping others. I also pride myself on transparency and communication with parents as it helps them be involved in their child's learning, and also foster trust.
