About Katherine
I am a fourth year medical student at UCL with interests in surgery, education and paediatrics. I enjoy teaching fellow students as it is immensely rewarding to see them reach their goals. Exams can be stressful and sometimes take away from the joy of learning. As a tutor, I aim to foster my students' intellectual curiosity and support them in a holistic manner. The benefit is twofold; students who are passionate about learning tend to avoid burnout and do better in their exams and beyond.
Personally, I completed the UKCAT (now UCAT) and BMAT exams successfully; I was in the top 2% and 25% of all candidates respectively and I believe that this was due to the revision techniques that I used. I will share these and work with my students to develop methods that work best for them to ensure exam success.
Outside of medicine, I am a keen cricketer and I enjoy music - I play the piano and I sing. My work-life balance has been critical in avoiding burnout during medical school and I am keen to pass on my advice about this to my students.

I am enthusiastic about teaching and am keen to pass on the knowledge I have acquired to prospective medical students. The BMAT is challenging as often students will not have taken exams in this style before but I am confident that the techniques and training that I can provide will boost their skills and allow them to undertake the exam with ease.
In terms of my methodology, I strongly believe that lessons should be tailored to a student's specific learning style and requirements. I will determine this prior to starting lessons through discussion with them. Communication between a student and tutor is critical to success and I will encourage my student to give feedback on my teaching style so that I can mould it to their needs.

Perfect! Katherine has assisted me in my graduate entry medicine application. In our lessons, we have discussed UCAT techniques and strategies, clear and concisely. Having someone to explain the right answers and the justification behind these decisions has proved to be highly effective in my preparations towards the UCAT exam this summer.
