About Karina
I am currently an undergraduate student at the University of Calgary; however, I grew up in Vancouver, BC. Some of my hobbies include journaling, photography, and traveling!
I am trilingual, speaking English, Mandarin (Chinese) and French. I have always been passionate about language learning and started learning French in grade 6 through the Late Immersion Program. With this experience, I continued in my French journey until I graduated high school.
To fully learn a language, you need practice and full immersion in not only the language but also the culture. I was able to complete the DELF B2 exam and have participated in French public-speaking contests such as the Concours d'Art Oratoire.
In addition, I have had previous tutoring experience in various subjects, so every lesson will be tailored to your individual needs, and you will be met with patience and understanding. I hope to create a safe, productive, and inspirational learning environment!

During our first lesson, we will explore your goals and objectives and I will do an initial assessment of your skills and abilities in French. From here, I will design detailed, personalized lessons tailored specifically for you.
My lessons focus on oral communication, writing, reading, and listening comprehension; however, if some areas need more support, then I will adjust accordingly. I also have many resources to support your learning and can provide additional practice outside of lessons.
I have previous experience teaching younger elementary and middle school students in French Immersion, but am more than happy to teach anyone just starting out in their French-learning journey or need some extra support.
As someone who began in late French Immersion, I graduated high school with a Double Dogwood Diploma and have completed the DELF B2. Due to this, I understand the challenges of learning French and can share many practical tips and strategies to help you succeed.
