About Fiona
My teaching approach uses French cinema, media, and cultural topics to make lessons exciting and real. I believe language learning should feel alive, not stuck in a textbook. That’s why we watch French films, listen to native speakers, and explore stories that reflect the heart of French life. Whether it’s a powerful scene from a movie or a short clip from a documentary, we use these moments to practice listening, speaking, and vocabulary. Reading aloud helps students grow more confident, while grammar is applied in real conversations, not just memorized. I include film-based learning, cultural discussions, structured grammar practice, and expressive speaking exercises in each lesson. My students not only learn French—they live it. I work especially well with immigrants, newcomers, and professionals who want to connect with French culture while improving their language skills. I support them in expressing themselves clearly and feeling at home with the language. My sessions are welcoming, adaptable, and focused on each learner’s goals.

I’m a dedicated French tutor with over 3 years of experience and a BA in French Cultural Policy and Arts Management. My expertise lies in guiding advanced students through the rich tapestry of Old French and historical linguistics. I specialize in helping learners analyze early French texts, uncovering the depth of medieval literature and the linguistic roots of modern French.
Much of my work centers on epic poems, chivalric romances, and foundational authors like Chrétien de Troyes and Marie de France. I aim to bring these works to life with thoughtful discussion and close reading. My sessions are tailored to meet the needs of university students engaged in historical linguistics or preparing for specialized research.
I also provide support with translation and contextual analysis, helping students gain confidence in their academic pursuits. Whether you're decoding 12th-century verse or exploring the evolution of French grammar, I’m here to guide your journey.
