Emily was recommended to me by my older sibling's friend. I was really struggling with English and they knew Emily had done really well in both GCSE and A level.
She teaches with a lot of enthusiasm for the subject, which made it really easy to engage. She was helpful with getting me to think more deeply about the English literature quotes than I had ever done before. Being able to explore the English texts with someone one to one was really helpful at allowing me the space to have some confidence to think and analyse the texts better. She was helpful at creating mindmaps with me for different literature themes for the text to help me view them in a way that links them all together as well as understanding them separately. She was also really helpful at helping me to develop my essay structure and writing style. This meant I was prepared for anything going into the exam. There was one session where I started crying because of how overwhelmed and stressed I felt about my upcoming exam, but Emily was so calm and reassuring and we had one of the best sessions yet. She asked me questions about the texts and quotes and then also got me to write a really quick paragraph on the spot. This massively boosted me right before the exam. I would really recommend Emily as a tutor. She's very kind and empathetic, which makes her a really lovely person to get to work with. I never dreaded the sessions and I really enjoyed learning.
