About Marissa
Hi, I'm Marissa, and I am here to help you feel more confident speaking, understanding and using English in everyday life.
I offer friendly, patient and practical English lessons designed around your goals and skill level.
I have experience homeschooling my two younger children, which taught me the importance of patience, encouragement and explaining things in different ways when someone doesn't understand.
My goal is simple: I want you to feel comfortable using English in the real world.

My teaching approach is patient, encouraging, and personalized. I believe students learn best when they feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and practicing without feeling embarrassed. I use a combination of conversation practice, vocabulary building, grammar instruction, pronunciation, reading, listening, and real life English situations.
I adjust my lessons based on each student's current English level, goals, and learning style.
A typical lesson begins with a friendly conversation to see how the student is doing and what they would like to work on. We then focus on a specific skill such as vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, reading or everyday conversation.
For my young learners 5th-8th grade I can provide English support that focuses on reading, vocabulary, grammar, writing,along with comprehension and conversation skills.
For my adult learners my lessons can focus on everyday English, workplace and travel communication, pronunciation, conversation, vocabulary and grammar.
With both young and adult learners we will work on building confidence when speaking English.
What sets me apart is my patience and ability to explain things in a simple easy to understand way. I also have experience with my two younger children, which helped me develop a flexible teaching style and understand each student learns differently.
My goal is to make English learning comfortable, practical and useful in everyday life while helping each student become more confident English speaker.
