Achievements: • Have played in many bands from New York, London and Budapest. Performed live countless times including Ronnie Scott's World-Famous Jazz Club and music festivals across the world. I cultivate each session to each individual's needs and desires of what they want to achieve on guitar. That is why it is so important for me to do the first session for free as to see if we are a good fit for each other and if I can provide what a student is looking for. It is also important that the student likes what I am teaching. As cliché as it might sound, music is about passion, as is learning to play! We have to find what excites you as a musician. I have curated long term planned sessions to suit a producer interested in learning neo-soul type jazz, or a student who was more concerned with the theoretical side of guitar, or an absolute beginner who really knows nothing but is eager to learn. This was different to when I taught group sessions (of 5-10 students) and had to develop a planned approach of a song that everyone could play to and learn at different levels, cultivating an ensemble of skills that would work melodically over each other so we could all come together at the end. My own background is in playing in jazz influenced indie bands, rock/grunge music, folk and some classical/flamenco style. It is from this experience that I draw a range of influence that I bring to our sessions. The breakdown of an hour lesson is typically this; To do some improvised playing to get the fingers and mind warming up To review the practice and highlight any issues and improvements that need to be addressed To look at a new piece, style or piece of theory Finish with a final improvised play to ease ourselves out of the session, and apply some new (or old) skills if there is time.
