LESSON 1: Equipment Basics & Beat Awareness
- Quick overview of DJ controller layout
- Essential controls: play/pause, cue button, volume faders
- Introduction to counting beats and phrases in music
- Guided practice loading tracks and basic playback
- Homework: Listen to your favorite tracks and practice counting beats
LESSON 2: Beatmatching Foundations
- Brief review of controller functions
- Understanding BPM and tempo adjustment
- Proper headphone cueing technique
- Guided practice matching beats of similar tracks
- Homework: Practice beatmatching with suggested track pairs
LESSON 3: Creating Your First Transition
- Review of beatmatching
- Basic EQ control for smooth blending
- One simple transition technique
- Guided practice creating a complete transition
- Homework: Practice your transition with different song combinations
After these three foundational lessons, students who wish to continue can move on to more advanced techniques such as different transition styles, creative use of effects, and building longer mixes. Perfect! Joe has great knowledge of song structures and explanations of the BPMS for songs. Explains that practicing with the tempo on the dj hardware is one of the major keys to make song transitions easier and effortlessly. Definitely would recommend Joe to anyone thats in the beginning stages of learning how to DJ
